PAI - Polyamide-imide

Crystalline polymer. Material with high mechanical and thermal properties (up to 260°C.). It resists to creep under load and to wear, its friction coefficient is low.

FEATURES

  • high temperature. It resists beyond 250°C. Dimensional stability
  • high E-modulus
  • good abrasion resistance and low friction coefficient
  • flame resistance (V.0)

WEAK POINT

  • very high cost
  • the machining is difficult

APPLICATION

  • mechanical: the dimensional stability at temperature is high, as well as the heat resistance. Components obtained by PAI have a very high wear resistance and are self-lubricating. It is used to produce high performance pieces at low as well as at high temperatures: bearings, cams, precision gears, etc.
  • electrical: very good dielectric and insulating properties
  • chemical: very good chemical resistance
  • food contact: it is not used in contact with food
